Winter Bison

Yellowstone National Park is a really amazing place in the winter. This photo is from the Lamar Valley, where many of the animals of Yellowstone go in the winter to find enough of a food source to make it through the bitter cold months. This bison was not alone… I was in the passenger seat of a car moving slowly down the road, and there was another bison behind this one. As we moved, I waited until the bison in the back was directly behind this one before snapping this photo. Lucky for me, this guy chose that moment to look up towards our vehicle.
