I realized that this city limit sign might work for a Milky Way shot a couple years before I actually managed to make this one happen. Highway 139 outside of town comes down a long hill on the way to this spot, and headlights are visible from cars for quite a while before they arrive at this spot. I set up for this shot, hoping for a car to come along to light up the road for me. It was around 4:00am, and I wound up seeing exactly one car during the hour that I waited. Thankfully, I got my settings right, and this shot was the result.
