A symbol of the American west, there is some controversy over the wild horse’s place in the ecosystem, as they are technically an “introduced” species, which competes for and depletes resources used by other species that are endemic to the region. Nevertheless, they have a huge number of fans, and it’s hard not to be moved by their power and presence, especially when one is running directly at you :)
