This image is the result of many months of effort, and many, many photos of the wrong end of this mountain lion. After narrowing down this cat’s preferred path of travel through my property using trail cameras, I began setting up camera traps for this shot, but every time I would set up or move my camera, it would come through in the opposite direction. Finally, after many attempts, this was the result. If you’re interested in a photo of the other end of a mountain lion, I have plenty! This shot was selected as a finalist in the 2022 California Wildlife Photo of the Year contest.
