Penguino Rey

The king penguin (penguino rey in Spanish) is similar looking to and emperor penguin, but slightly smaller and with slightly different markings. There is only one known king penguin colony on any continent. It’s on the extreme southern tip of South America on the island of Tierra Del Fuego (still considered part of the South American continent). There are other colonies in the Falkland Islands and other nearby islands, but this is the only “continental” colony. The big brown juveniles are growing their “tuxedo” underneath all that fluff, and when they molt and lose all the brown down, they will look like the adults.
