Make it a Double

I have been in a few fairly stressful photography situations (usually involving wild animals), but the moment of trying to capture a shot of this rainbow was one of the most stressful. It was raining sideways, with raindrops blowing into my face, so every time I raised the camera, the lens would get covered with water drops. the rainbow was too big to fit into the frame in one shot, so I needed to shoot a panorama of several shots in order to capture the whole scene. I didn’t have a tripod with me, and the light was coming and going as the sun dipped behind the fast moving clouds in the high wind. I didn’t know how long I had. I shot a series of shots, lowering the camera between shots to wipe the lens down, and then raising it to a “best guess” position in order to align the shots in the edit. I had less than a second to take each photo, as the lens was too wet and blurry after the first moment. I had no dry rag to wipe the lens with, so my wet shirt was the best I could do. Thankfully, I got enough decent frames to stitch together into this panorama. It was definitely the most intense rainbow I’ve ever seen.
