Lightning Storm

I had never experienced a lightning storm like this one in Mahvusa, South Africa. The head of this intense cloud bank swept across the landscape, with a lightning strike happening every few seconds. Intense rain came in waves as the storm moved through. One other unique thing compared to the lightning I’m used to here in the northern Sierra in California was the sound. Each thunder clap seemed to echo and roll for what seemed like minutes. The rumbling, rolling echo would not be completely gone when the next one would come, making the volume and overall sound of this storm as impressive as the sights. This is a composite photo, blending several shots that were taken during the same few minutes, using a 20 second shutter speed. The most strikes I got in one 20 second exposure was 4.
