“Fall colors” of a different sort. A rarity for this part of Northern California, the northern lights paid a couple visits to Lassen County in 2024. This appearance in October happened to be on a night when I was making a late drive home from Reno. I stopped along highway 395 and shot this picture overlooking Honey Lake, with Shaffer Mountain in the center of the horizon.
