Fly Fishing

2019 California Wildlife Photo of the Year
Displayed in the lobby of the law office adjacent to the gallery at 30x20 on Chromaluxe metal

I spent a lot of time in 2019 following these eagles around Antelope Lake in my kayak, hoping to someday get this shot. Many, many hours are represented here. I was in the right spot at the wrong time hundreds of times, and then in the right spot at the right time once. This shot was selected as the 2019 California Wildlife Photo of the Year in the contest sponsored by the Dept. of Fish and Wildlife, The Sierra Nevada Conservancy, and California Watchable Wildlife. As the winner of the contest, I was introduced on the Senate floor in Sacramento and presented with a Senate Resolution in my honor. In addition, this photo won the 2019 California Trout photo contest, winning me a very nice fly rod so that I can do some fly fishing too. The resolution is hanging in the gallery, but you’ll have to sneak into the lobby of my wife’s law office next door to look at the photo. I probably won’t share the fly rod.
