This image of my friend Dave fishing in his kayak on Lake Almanor has been popular, I think mostly because we all wish that we could be Dave in this moment. Lake Almanor is an incredibly beautiful place, and often puts on an incredibly beautiful show at sunset. This evening was no exception. I was camping at Rocky Point Campground, and took this photo from the tip of Rocky Point. For the non-locals, that is Mt. Lassen out there on the horizon (the southernmost Cascade volcano). This shot won “People’s Choice” in the 2021 California Trout Photo of the Year contest.
