Eagle Lake, Desolation Wilderness
The Desolation Wilderness southwest of Lake Tahoe is a rugged, beautiful wilderness. Eagle Lake is on the edge of this wilderness, and is accessible from Lake Tahoe via a popular hiking trail. It is frequently visited by day hikers. We had done a couple days backpacking deeper in the wilderness, and spent the night here on our last evening, before the short hike back to civilization on this morning. It was sweet to have the place to ourselves on this day before the day hikers made the trek. I shot this image with my right hand without putting down the fly rod in my left hand. I caught 3 brook trout on dry flies in this spot before packing up for the hike down the hill.
