Beside Quiet Waters

One of the greatest feelings for me is the very beginning of a day of adventure in the outdoors. When I took this photo, my kayak was all rigged and waiting for me on shore just behind me, with fishing gear and photography equipment on board. The air temperature had dropped below the water temperature overnight, so a fog was rising from the calm lake, and I was about to paddle out into the unknown day ahead. A moment of joy and thankfulness, a sip of coffee, a couple photos. Nothing better.
